USMLE Consult was created in part because Elsevier saw the need for a high-quality USMLE practice test bank that includes content from experts in their fields. We reached out to our most popular authors and recruited them to write questions, review questions, or provide content for High-yield Hits.
USMLE Consult collects statistics on every question we use so we can gauge how a question "performs." If too many users are getting a question correct, we know that it's not challenging enough and we revise or replace it. If not enough students are getting a question correct, we review it to make sure that we have been clear with our wording and options. Our goal is to use a balanced question bank, one with some difficult, some medium, and some easier questions, just like the actual USMLEs.
Practice questions were written by students, residents, consultants, professors, physicians, program directors, and chiefs. Every question goes through two review processes.
